After trimming your audio in TrimTone, tap Export. This creates a ringtone-ready file saved locally on your iPhone. Exporting uses one credit.

After export, TrimTone displays step-by-step instructions to register the ringtone with iOS through GarageBand:

1. Tap the share button on the exported file → Open in GarageBand
2. In GarageBand, tap the share icon → Ringtone
3. Name your ringtone → Export
4. Choose Use sound as… → Standard Ringtone (or Text Tone)

Your ringtone then appears in Settings → Sounds & Haptics → Ringtone. For a full walkthrough, see the complete ringtone guide.

After exporting from TrimTone and registering via GarageBand, your custom ringtone appears in the system ringtone list:

1. Open Settings → Sounds & Haptics → Ringtone
2. Your custom ringtone appears at the top of the list
3. Tap it to select it as your default ringtone

To set a ringtone for a specific contact: open Contacts, tap a name, tap Edit, then tap Ringtone.

The same exported ringtone file works as a text tone. Go to Settings → Sounds & Haptics → Text Tone and select your custom sound.

TrimTone supports any audio or video file that your iPhone can play:

• Audio: MP3, M4A, AAC, WAV, AIFF, CAF, FLAC
• Video: MP4, MOV, M4V

When you import a video, TrimTone automatically extracts the audio track. Voice memos can be imported via the Files app.

DRM-protected files (Apple Music, Spotify streams) cannot be imported. You can use files you own, recorded audio, or audio from videos in your Photos library.

Apple requires all iPhone ringtones to be 30 seconds or shorter. This is a system-level limitation enforced by iOS, not by TrimTone. TrimTone enforces the limit automatically so every export works.

If you reinstall TrimTone, switch to a new iPhone, or credits are not showing:

1. Open TrimTone
2. Go to the credits/purchase screen
3. Tap Restore Purchases

This restores credits or Lifetime Unlimited access linked to your Apple ID. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.

If restore doesn't work, try restarting the app or checking your internet connection. If the issue persists, contact [email protected].

Ringtone doesn't appear after exporting:

• Make sure you completed the GarageBand step: Share → Ringtone → Export.
• Check Settings → Sounds & Haptics → Ringtone — custom ringtones appear at the top.
• If GarageBand shows an error, try closing and reopening the app.
• Ensure the clip is 30 seconds or shorter.

GarageBand won't open the file:

• Make sure GarageBand is installed (free on the App Store).
• Use the share button in TrimTone and choose "Open in GarageBand" directly.
• If GarageBand opens to a project, look for the file in "Recents."

Export button grayed out / "No credits":

• You need at least one credit to export. Purchase credits or try Restore Purchases.

No sound during preview:

• Check that your iPhone is not in Silent mode (switch on left side).
• Turn up the volume using the side buttons.
• If using Bluetooth headphones, check audio routing.
• Try closing and reopening TrimTone.

Ringtone doesn't play when someone calls:

• Verify the ringtone is selected in Settings → Sounds & Haptics → Ringtone.
• Check that Silent mode and Do Not Disturb are off.
• Check the ringtone volume slider in Settings → Sounds & Haptics.

I don't have GarageBand:

• GarageBand is free on the App Store. It comes pre-installed on most iPhones.

GarageBand opens to the wrong screen:

• Choose "Open in GarageBand" from TrimTone's share sheet.
• If GarageBand opens to its home screen, look for the file in "Recents."

"Ringtone" option missing in GarageBand Share menu:

• Make sure the project is open and tap the share icon (rectangle with arrow) in the toolbar.
• The Ringtone option appears alongside Song and Project. If missing, try closing and reopening.

TrimTone processes all audio and video entirely on your iPhone. Your files are never uploaded to external servers. The app does not require an account and does not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.

The developer may receive anonymized, aggregated usage analytics from Apple (App Analytics), which does not identify individual users.

In-app purchases are processed through Apple's App Store. The developer does not have access to your payment details.
